I have it on good authority (well, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neil_Young#Instruments) that those guitars might be as old as they looked like. The black one would have been 'old black'. OMFG.

Just to let you know: There are many musical instrument manufacturers who offer a special finish which basically looks like as if the guitar (or other instrument) has been played for a long time. The crazy thing about that is that the instruments usually are more expensive because they are more or less custom made, which means they're unique. Reason: Every guitar with that finish is a "normal" guitar (normal finish) and some guitar- (or other instruments-) tech takes a piece of sandpaper and gives it the "older" touch. Basically, it's a cool idea, but if I wanted to have a guitar which looks old I'd use it as often as possible to create the same results as some guy rubbing the finish off my new instrument.

Cheers, Armin
