the university saga continues..

Finally I’ve taken my oral statistics exam and succeded. This was the last one to complete my bakk. study (the only missing thing is the term paper which will be written in februrary).

Over all the last two weeks were.. sleep-deprivated. There were times when I had to stay awake for 41 hours straight.. the pseudo-vegtable state which I entered was rather amusing. But after all the term looks quite successful (around 40 semester hours done).

The most annoying task in the last weeks was programming with Enterprise Java Beans with the help of Xdoclets and JBoss. Xdoclets are just a undocumented PITA. big time. My impression of these products is that their enterprise-grade can only be seen on their resource consumption and by no means by documentation on a professional level.

I’ve also done some hardware upgrades in the last week. First I upgraded my laptop’s memory from 512mb to 1.2gb.. eclipse starts to feel.. responsive. On a side note I can now upgrade my old laptop’s memory (with the old 256mb stick which I removed from my laptop) to 384mb which should make that one a lot faster. The other addition was a very cheap external 300gb harddrive (which after formatting it with ext3 (-m 0) just offered approx. 275gb free storage space) which was filled with the content of all dvds which were lying around.
